Hello TJJ JSU Parents,
Today was such a fun day, and it wasn’t just because of Yom NCSY! Our day started out in Harov Midras where we had the opportunity to crawl through the Bar Kochba caves. These were the caves that the Jewish warriors strategically used in their rebellion against the Roman Empire after the destruction of our second Temple. We then made our way to Tel Aviv’s famous Shuk HaCarmel, where the teens were given time to explore, shop, and eat in this vibrant market. Afterwards, we gathered in Independence Hall and learned about the political journey that was the founding of the State of Israel. The teens were teleported back to 1947 to witness the passing of Resolution 181 and the formation of the new Jewish State. On our way to Rishon Lezion, we stopped at a mall for some down time and shopping, and then headed to Yom NCSY! Our teens enjoyed a yummy barbeque and then a concert by Mordechai Shapiro – one of the most famous singers in the Jewish world – with thousands of teens from all over the United States on nearly 20 summer programs! Wishing you all a good night as our Lions go to bed exhausted and enthralled!
