The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Yad Vashem and Mt. Herzl

Dear Parents,

Yesterday was a very moving and emotional experience. We began with a program on Tuesday night to prepare the kids for Yad Vashem and Mt. Herzl. Our morning started with a tour of Yad Vashem which was very moving for many teens. We continued onto Mt. Herzl, Israel’s national military cemetery. Ariel told some incredible stories of heroism and sacrifice and the kids were very moved. Our medic, Eran, served in an elite unit in the IDF and was in battle last summer. He was a commander and he took us to the grave of one of his soldiers who was killed last summer. By the time he was done, there wasn’t a dry eye amongst the group. We also encountered a young kid who was there visiting the grave of his brother who fell in battle defending the Jewish people. It was a very difficult moment for many of the teens.

I sincerely hope that the teens will carry the inspiration and stories from yesterday with them for the rest of their lives.

Avi
