Dear TJJ JSU Parents,

I hope all of our TJJ Lions are well rested and feeling good. It is now 4 days since we boarded the plane from Israel back to Miami. The life-changing journey that is Southern TJJ is now behind us. It is only appropriate to begin by thanking you, the parents, for entrusting us with your precious children. This experience would not have been possible without your dedication and commitment to your child’s future.  

What a month it was! There were laughs and tears all throughout the journey of growth. While we all shared a powerful experience, no lion is indeed the same. Take a moment and ask “how did you grow this summer?”, after all, our goal is to begin the journey to our Jewish futures. We explored in depth, our Jewish identity and the question of what does it mean to be a Jew? We traveled to every corner of our homeland Israel and developed an authentic relationship with her while discovering the meaning of the phrase ‘Homeland’. We experienced the effect of the crucial Jewish value of community and made the commitment to stay connected going forward. We made valuable relationships with friends and mentors. And finally, we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones to get to know our character with a fresh perspective. As we strive to become better versions of ourselves, we uncovered new abilities that we never thought we were capable of!

With the exceptional caliber of Lions, we had this summer, the Jewish future looks bright! On behalf of myself and my entire team, I ask that this summer should not be the end of the journey. We have an entire calendar of programs to allow our Lions to continue their involvement in the community. Please keep an eye out for everything we have planned for this year and beyond. Jewish continuity starts with Jewish community involvement! I hope to see everyone real soon.
