The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
We’re back!

Hello TJJ JSU Parents,

We are ecstatic to be back together again after a Shabbat apart! After picking up our Lions in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, we made our way to the Old City for a tour, some free time, and lunch in the Jewish Quarter. We then went to the Gush Katif museum to learn about the 8,600 residents of the area that were uprooted as part of Israel’s disengagement from the Gaza Strip. We had thought-provoking conversations about the causes and effects of this incident, helping our teens formulate their own opinions about nuanced political issues in the Middle East. We then traveled to Bethlehem for the highlight of the day: a visit to the grave of our foremother, Rachel. We explained her significance as both a Biblical matriarch as well as the emblem of yearning for the return of the Jews to their homeland. We checked into a new hotel feeling connected, inspired, and grateful. Looking forward to another impactful day tomorrow as we visit Yad Vashem.
