Dear NCSY TJJ Lion Pride,
Regards from Tzvat!!
Friday was a fantastic day as we toured the holy city of Tzvat. We started by visiting the synagogue of the Arizal, one of the most prominent Rabbis to have lived in Tzfat and one of the key Rabbis in understanding the Kabbalah. Afterwards we learned about the Lecha Dodi prayer in Friday night services. We then had a tour of the city and learned about its deep connection to the Kabbalah all while visiting amazing sites like the Dveykus cave, the candle factory, and the artists colony.
Following some free time for lunch (the schnitzel was out of this world) there was an abundance of shopping in the artists colony. Necklaces, bracelets and paintings were just some of the things that we loaded up on. Our day in Tzvat continued by hearing from one of the local artists, Avraham Leventhal, about his amazing life story and the inspiration and meaning behind many of his works of art. We concluded our trip to Tzfat by visiting Ozer HaStam, a group of scribes, who taught us all of the processes and intricacies of writing sacred scrolls and parchments.
We are so excited to spend our first shabbat together in the beautiful Chispin!!
Shabbat Shalom! Avi Warman
