Hello TJJ JSU Parents,
Our day started with a visit to the Children’s Museum in Holon. One bus went through the Dialogue with Time exhibit, gaining an invaluable glimpse into the world of the elderly. The other group experienced the triumphs and troubles of those with hearing and/or visual impairments. Our teens left this social, emotional, and moral journey with a sense of gratitude for everything they have as well as increased sensitivities to others who are facing difficulties. We also visited the Atelena Memorial at the Bogroshov Beach and then we traveled to Nefesh B’Nefesh for the chance to hear from Rabbi Uri Pilichowski, renowned political commentator and educator who we are lucky to have on staff at Southern NCSY! He explained a few historical points to the teens and engaged them in a conversation about what they can do to support Israel from America. Encouraging them to take action through lobbying and other means of political involvement, he showed them how they can fight to preserve what the Jewish people fought so hard to build. Our teens went to bed empowered with a deep understanding of their Jewish identity and legacy, and with a tremendous sense of connection to their history.
