The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Exploring the Judea region

Hello TJJ JSU Parents,

We gained amazing insights into the heroism of our IDF soldiers today! We started off at Caliber 3 in Efrat, Israel’s leading counter-terrorism and security training academy. Our Lions had a crash course in Krav Maga – Israeli self-defense – with former IDF Special Ops soldiers, and learned valuable strategies and skills they can use to protect themselves! The buses then split up, with the first group traveling to Eretz Havat Ha’Ayalim, a farm featuring extreme sports activities and the second group traveling to Kfar Etzion. Our Lions were able to enjoy rock-climbing, a ropes course high above the Jerusalem hills, and an exhilarating 600m zipline resting 120m over a scenic canyon. They then swapped activities with the second bus, which had been learning about the tremendous courage of the soldiers of Gush Etzion during the War of Independence. They experienced a moving light and sound show telling the story of these brave settlers and heroic fighters, and were able to see the actual bunker where the final few of these soldiers fell. This thrilling and impactful day ended with a return to Jerusalem, allowing the teens to appreciate and benefit from the tremendous self-sacrifice of these soldiers. Wishing you all a good night.
