Dear NCSY TJJ Lion Pride,
Hello from JERUSALEM!
After having such a late night Tuesday, not even spending the night in tents stopped the Lion Pride from getting a great night of Zz’s. As we left Chan-Hashayarot (many were upset that we left on the bus and not by Camel) we went West towards Sderot. On our way to Sderot we stopped a Shvil Hasalat, also called “The Salad Trail.” We learned all about Israel’s agriculture and the types of vegetables they grow (you would not believe how many different colored carrots they have!). We even had a chance to taste some of the veggies while touring the green houses!!
Next, we had an eye opening bus tour of Sderot, one of Israel’s nearest cities to Gaza. The residents taught us about how they react to rockets being fired from Gaza and about their rock hard resolve in living normal lives. Following Sderot we made a visit to Tel Aviv’s Bar Ilan University and got schooled in Israel advocacy. Wednesday evening found us in JERUSALEM!!! Finally after so many days of seeing the land of Israel we came back to its heart and capital. Following a brief rest from the day’s travels at the hotel, we made our way to the old city of Jerusalem where we visited the kotel at last! For some it was not their first time being there, for others it was a new experience, however everyone agreed it was incredibly moving and meaningful. There has been some confusion regarding the free weekend pickup times. The official times and locationw are as follows . Our first stop will be at Raman Rachel hotel in Jerusalem at 6:30 PM and our second pickup spot will be in the Arlozorov bus station at 8PM.
We hope everyone gets some sleep and returns Sunday morning fully rested!!!
Shabbat Shalom,
Avi Warman
