Day 7 was a fun day, and we had fun while giving back to the community. After waking up at the rather late time of six in the morning, we went into our daily tefillah workshop groups in which we talked about various topics, such as prayer, Jewish identity, and historical events.  After our workshops we went on a bus ride to the LA Regional Food Bank, which is on the other side of town. The bus ride to the food bank really put into perspective how fortunate we are to be able to afford things that we take so much for granted, such as a house, money, electricity, cars, and water. Once we arrived at the food bank we were shown a short video about how the food bank makes it easier for LA citizens to live their lives. After the video, we went straight to work. We sorted out donations by their shelf life, boxed the food by category, and threw out the food that can no longer be consumed.

After the food bank, we drove to Hollywood! On the bus, everyone was trying to take pictures of the Hollywood sign in the distance. Once we got to Hollywood, we walked down the Walk of Fame, and saw the stars of singers, actors, directors, characters, and producers. By far the busiest star in Hollywood was Michael Jackson’s, which was crowded by many people. After an hour in Hollywood, we went to the Grove mall where we walked around, and had a ton of fun! Finally, we were off to Rodeo Drive, where we walked around, found things that we liked, then realized that it was most definitely NOT in our budget. We shopped until we dropped… upon looking at the prices, and also meeting Kayley Cuoco, as well as taking selfies with her in a very nice Cartier store. After a busy day, we started preparing for Tisha B’Av. We related it to modern day with the current situation with Israel, and how the destruction of the temple started the Jews’ hardships. We finished off the night by watching a movie on the holocaust, The Pianist.
