June 4th. Today is also known as the Fourth of July, a very special day to Americans. Today was also a very special day to me, except for a different reason. The reason was a hike. As someone who lives very close to the Rocky Mountains and many national parks, hiking is nothing new to me.This one, however, was no ordinary one. We started off very high up, travelled all the way down, and not long after, we trekked our way back up. This wouldn’t have been too bad if the paths weren’t made up of massive rocks that we were constantly climbing over. Oh ya.. Did i mention that it was scorching hot:)..Even though the hike was tough, the ice cream after made it all worth it. After the hike, we then made our way to the Bengal lookout point. It was absolutely beautiful. We got to experience an amazing view of Syria and its border. The view wasn’t the only thing we got to experience, there was also an old underground army bunker. We went inside, and although it was claustrophobic, dark, bug infested, and even a little smelly, it gave such a different feeling. Walking in the footsteps of soldiers and reliving their experiences was amazing. Sure, we hear all of the stories and do the research, but experiencing it first hand really makes you realize what these soldiers went through.
To finish off the day, we went to a theatre and watched a documentary about the 6 day war. It was great to hear personal experiences with such detail!
Today was an amazing day filled with fun and meaningful experiences. I really can’t wait to finish off the Best. Summer. Ever.
