Day 16 Up and down we go!- Taya Blimbaum

Today we continued our journey traveling around Israel. Our first stop was Masada. We started our day by waking up at 5:45 and heading on our way to this famous mountain. Although it was too hot for us to climb, we got to take the cable carts up to enjoy the beautiful view that the mountain provides. At the top of the mountain we learned about King Herod and how he built his fortress on Masada in order to be far away from civilization. We were able to see different rooms that were built for storage or bathing, back when King Herod lived. After Masada we were off to the Dead Sea. It was an amazing experience to be able to go to the Dead Sea for the first time. We were able to cover ourselves with mud, then wash it off with the water. Even though the water was much warmer than I expected it was still incredible to be able to experience the sea for the first time. After washing off the salt of the Dead Sea we drove over to a rabbis house named Uri Pilichowski. He spoke to us about the importance of advocating for Israel. Finally, to end off our day, we headed back to the kibbutz for dinner, and prepared ourselves for our departure from the kibbutz the next day.
