Shabbat is a time to reflect on the week, to rest and connect with G-d spiritually and emotionally. Our first Shabbat was an eye-opening and incredible experience. It was a time where everyone united as one as we sang the Shabbat songs and danced along. Many teens enjoyed the singing and dancing because it was a time filled with joy and was the first real time that everyone felt united. It was amazing to see that kids who have never even celebrated a proper Shabbat and kids who have connected in the same way. It was a different experience than from going to shul on a regular Friday night back at home. With the situation in Israel everyone’s thoughts and emotions were drawn to the brave soldiers fighting for our country. Even though we are not in Israel this summer our hearts are there, and this Shabbat especially we were and continue to pray for peace. Aside from the singing and dancing, we were NEVER hungry! With one huge Friday night dinner and non stop food throughout Saturday we were stuffed! So don’t worry mom and dad we are eating! Shabbat was also filled with knowledge and reflection, we participated In many interesting conversation topics with our advisors. With no snapchat, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter we were all able to really pay attention and form inseparable bonds and long lasting friendships! It gave us a break to reflect on who we are as a person and who we aspire to become, Overall this Shabbat was very uplifting and made me grateful for all I have and made me start a new week with a positive attitude, knowing and understanding so much more about Judaism.
Best summer ever
